PapCone®
Application:
PapCone® is a cervical sampling (Pap smear) device designed to obtain and
transfer cervical cells to a glass slide for a cytological examination.
NEW: PapCone®
can be used for LBC-methods as well! (Expert assertion LBC.pdf)
Because of its form, dimension and the material properties of the special foam used for
PapCone® it is possible
to obtain cells from the cervical channel and the ectocervix.
In contrast to brushes and hard spatulas, PapCone® does not tear cells from
their natural layer and does not cause bleeding while sampling.
PapCone® enables a gentle transfer of cells to a glass slide without damaging them.

This study examines the effectiveness of the PapCone® when compared to spatula / brush combination and cotton tip during cervical cell sampling.
A total of 31,000 pap smears where taken during the study. Gynecologists clearly preferred the PapCone® over the spatula / brush combination
and agreed PapCone® performed favorably during smear sampling, transfer, time needed for sampling, and patients acceptance.
